ACM series · Cutting system

The ACM cutting system, configured to your measure.

The ACM is Resato's modular waterjet cutting machine series: configurable in width (1–4 m) and length, with 1 to 4 cutting heads. You load full plates or several small plates and cut almost any material without heat input, with ±50 µm positioning accuracy.

One table for full plates and small series, cut without heat input.

The ACM is a modular waterjet cutting machine: you configure the working area across width (1–4 m) and length, with 1 to 4 cutting heads. You load a full plate, or several small plates side by side. Because the waterjet does not heat the material, nothing melts or deforms: the material stays exactly as it was.

That way you also cut steels accurately without finishing: where stainless steel can warp under plasma or laser cutting, here it stays flat. On this page you will find the specifications, the build-up and the configuration options. We are happy to help you to the optimal configuration for your situation.

This is the configurable range, not a fixed list. The full dimensions table with the net cutting range per model and the 4 m series is on the cutting tables page: all working areas and options.

The ±50 micron is the positioning accuracy of the machine; the cutting tolerance of your workpiece depends on material, thickness, cutting head and speed. We are happy to discuss that during a cutting test.

Build-up

One system, six building blocks.

The ACM is not a stand-alone table but a complete cutting system. Six building blocks together determine the configuration: the table, the cutting head, abrasive management, the pump, the control unit and the software. Each building block has its own page with the full dimensions and options.

01 · The table

ACM cutting table

The table is well protected against water and abrasive: plenty of stainless steel against corrosion, and components kept at a slight overpressure where needed, so water and abrasive cannot get in. Direct-drive linear (magnetic) motors position without wear. The table comes with the operator console running Resato HMI: versatile, easy to use and seamlessly integrated with IGEMS. View the cutting tables and all working areas.

Positioning accuracy
±50 µm
Cutting speed
up to 30,000 mm/min
02 · Cutting head

2D or 2.5D

As standard the machine carries 1 or 2 cutting heads (modular) and 3 or 4 on the larger tables, expandable later. The 2D cutting head cuts straight; the 2.5D head also tilts up to 55° (positive and negative) and rotates ±360°, for bevel cuts. Both work with abrasive and with pure water. View the cutting heads.

03 · Abrasive management

From supply to removal

The supply system (a vessel or a continuous system) brings the abrasive to the feeder, which doses it to the cutting head. The removal system takes used abrasive back out of the water tank, including during long, unmanned runs. View abrasive management.

04 · Pump

PJ-series intensifier pumps

Three base versions: PJ-2-4000, PJ-4-4000 and PJ-8-4000, with a working pressure up to 4,000 bar. Every pump is available water-cooled (-W) and with a soft starter (S-) against peak loads. Air-cooled (-AH) and the double intensifier (-DI) for uninterrupted production are available on the PJ-2-4000 and the PJ-4-4000; the PJ-8-4000 is water-cooled, with air cooling on request. View the pumps.

05 · Control unit

Operator console with Resato HMI

From the console you plan cutting jobs, monitor the process and let the machine cut on unmanned once it is set up. The HMI is seamlessly connected to the CAD/CAM software. View the control unit.

06 · Software

IGEMS CAD/CAM

More than nesting alone: manual and automatic nesting, cost calculation per cutting job, preparing bevel (2.5D) cuts and Tilemaker. Your work preparation draws in the CAD/CAM software, which is directly connected to the machine's HMI. You select cutting jobs from the console. View the software.

Why the ACM

Why this waterjet cutting machine keeps performing.

01

Precision that holds, even in the corners

On a large cutting table you want the accuracy not to drift away towards the corners. The positioning accuracy of ±50 micron applies at 20 °C across the full working area, not just around the zero point. The direct-drive linear motors work magnetically: there is no mechanical transmission in between that can wear.

Positioning accuracy±50 µm
DriveLinear, wear-free
02

Cutting without heat input

The waterjet does not heat the material. It does not melt, harden or warp: the properties of your material stay exactly as they were, including on high-end alloys. The cut is smooth as well, so finishing is usually not needed.

Heat inputNone
Material thickness1 – 200 mm
03

Unmanned cutting

Through job management in the HMI you queue several cutting jobs. EMS monitoring detects problems with the nozzle and shuts down automatically. And with the optional Flex-Zone the light curtains sit on the gantry instead of around the table, so you load and unload safely while the machine cuts.

Workflow

From drawing to unmanned production.

Unmanned cutting rests on three things that each have their own role: job management in the HMI handles the workflow, the EMS monitors the nozzle and shuts down automatically on a problem, and the Flex-Zone lets you load and unload while the machine cuts.

01

Drawing

Your work preparation makes the drawing in the IGEMS CAD/CAM software, which is directly connected to the machine's HMI.

02

Nesting

IGEMS nests the parts manually or automatically on the plate, optimises material use and calculates the cost per cutting job.

03

Cutting

From the operator console you select the cutting job: with abrasive for hard and with pure water for soft material, always without heat input.

04

Finishing unmanned

For longer runs you queue several jobs in job management. After the last job the machine switches itself off, including overnight.

Customer in practice · Merford

After seventeen years of cutting, Merford simply ordered another one.

With a waterjet you can cut that recess directly, without an extra cut.

Merford in Gorinchem makes acoustic solutions and needed to cut internal recesses without unnecessary saw marks, something their traditional band saw could not do. With a waterjet they cut that recess directly, in one operation. The first ACM waterjet has been running there since 2009 and is still like new, and when Merford wanted to grow in 2026 the company chose Resato again, with an ACM-2040.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Is your question not listed? We prefer to test with a cutting test on your own material.

Book a test cut
What working area does the ACM have?

The ACM is configurable: available in widths of 1, 2, 3 and 4 metres and in lengths from 1 m, up to 10 m as standard and up to 30 m on request, with 1 or 2 cutting heads as standard and 3 or 4 on the larger tables. That way you determine the working area that suits your plates and series. On the 3 metre wide versions the net cutting width stays the same, whether you cut with 1 or with 2 cutting heads.

How many cutting heads can an ACM have?

1 or 2 cutting heads as standard. On the larger tables 3 or 4 are possible, spread over 1 or 2 X-carriages. More heads means you cut several workpieces at once, or the same workpiece faster. You can expand later: the machine is built modularly.

How accurate is the machine?

The positioning accuracy is ±50 micron at 20 °C, across the full working area. The cutting tolerance of your workpiece depends on material, thickness, cutting head and speed. We determine that best together during a cutting test on your own material.

Which materials and thicknesses can I cut?

With a waterjet you cut almost anything: stainless steel, steel, aluminium, titanium, natural stone, ceramics, composites, glass, plastics, rubber and foam among others. Hard material is cut with abrasive, soft material with pure water. Material thickness can run from 1 to 200 mm.

Can this machine cut unmanned?

Yes. Through job management in the HMI you queue several cutting jobs, EMS monitoring intervenes on a problem with the nozzle, and after the last job the machine switches itself off. With the optional Flex-Zone you also load and unload safely while cutting.

Which pump and cutting head do I combine with this machine?

You choose a pump from the PJ series (PJ-2-4000, PJ-4-4000 or PJ-8-4000, available water-cooled and with a soft starter, and on the PJ-2-4000 and PJ-4-4000 also air-cooled and with a double intensifier) and a 2D or 2.5D cutting head. We help you to the optimal configuration for your situation.

What about service and parts?

We are the manufacturer and have everything in house: research, development, production, installation and service. We supply parts from our own stock, and in the event of a fault we log in to the machine where needed to assess its status. Various companies in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany already work with us this way.
