Book a test cut
Junge steindesign did not choose on cut quality
A stone specialist in East Frisia makes ship bathrooms, hotel washbasins, staircases and gravestones from natural stone and quartz composite. When a new waterjet was needed, the deciding factor was not the cut but the question of what happens when the machine stands still. It became an ACM-2040.
Work where you get no second attempt
simply unacceptable
Junge steindesign is based in Neukamperfehn, in East Frisia, and makes work where the dimensions are on show. Ship bathrooms that have to fit an existing space. Washbasins for hotels, where twenty have to be identical. Staircases and gravestones, where a millimetre is the difference between finished and starting over.
The material makes that harder than it sounds. Natural stone and quartz composite are hard, and they are expensive. A sheet of quartz composite cut off line cannot be cut back. You order a new one, wait for delivery and put the job on hold.
With the previous supplier a breakdown could run to two weeks. That is this company's experience, and those two weeks are not an inconvenience. They mean an order that has already been sold does not get delivered. For a workshop of this size there is no second table to fall back on: there is one machine, and it either stands still or runs.

Two things settled
the decision.
The consideration came down to two questions. How quickly is someone there when it goes wrong, and how much time do you lose while everything simply works.
- An hour's drive: on a breakdown a technician is promised the same day. Our engineering and service sit in the same building in Assen, where the machines are also designed and built
- Loading while the machine cuts: what struck Junge about Flex-Zone is that only the area where the cutting head moves is guarded, so at the other end you can already lay out the next sheet
When the cut is right,
you cannot see the seam.
Quartz composite is one of the hardest materials to get straight, and that is precisely where the machine reaches a tolerance under one millimetre. That is what makes the rest possible: when the cut is right, you can put pieces together without seeing where one ends.
- Grain that runs on around the corner, as if the block had never been cut through
- Mitre bonding you cannot see, which makes a washbasin look solid rather than assembled
- When cutting hard quartz sections the cold water jet begins to glow
Solid in appearance,
assembled in reality.
Washbasins that look as if they come from a single block, made from sheets mitre-joined together. That only works if every cut falls within tolerance, because a deviation of half a millimetre shows immediately at the corner.
They cut with a
Resato waterjet too.

Send a piece of the material you dread most and we will cut a test piece from it. Then you judge the edge and the dimensions on your own stone, not on a sample we picked out.
