Cutting natural stone, with optimised material use.

Do you work in bathroom construction, interiors or kitchen worktops? Then your trade is about shape and material at the same time. A waterjet cuts brittle materials such as quartzite and ceramics while optimising material use, and 2.5D cutting gives you the freedom to cut any contour straight from the drawing. With service that keeps your downtime short.

The challenge

Brittle stone with optimised material use, free shapes without a tool change.

Brittle materials such as quartzite, ceramics and natural stone break or crumble easily under traditional tooling, and that costs you material. Material is expensive. A waterjet cuts cold and without mechanical pressure on the stone, so you make optimal use of the material. On top of that you gain freedom of shape, because the shape has to be exactly right: a bevelled edge, a curve, a pattern that runs seamlessly around the corner.

A waterjet cuts the drawing directly as a 2.5D contour. The jet follows the shape without any tool change, and the cut is made cold, without mechanical pressure on the stone. That way the stone keeps its structure and finishing stays limited.

What you make with it

From worktop to a basin that looks solid.

With 2.5D cutting you translate a design straight into the workpiece. Think of worktops with a crisp edge, basins that look solid, stair components and decorative elements. Mosaics in various types of stone and ceramics are cut just as easily, with patterns that run seamlessly around the corner. We cut almost anything, including natural stone, granite, ceramics and quartz composite, on the same cutting table. Stone we always cut with abrasive; these materials are too hard to cut without it. What we tune per job is the cutting speed, and with it the finish quality: a face that will be glued may be slightly rougher, because that makes the joint stronger, while a visible part gets the finest cut quality. Polishing to a gloss and breaking sharp edges always remain finishing work, even after the finest cut. Not sure about your material? Then we will look at it together.

Large slabs, safely loaded

From vertical to horizontal, without human hands.

Large natural stone slabs, think 2 by 4 metres, are often stored vertically. Getting them horizontal onto the cutting table is heavy, time-consuming and carries a real risk of breakage or accidents. With the optional tilting table (the ACM-4020-TG) you lift the slab vertically out of storage with your own crane and place it vertically into the tilting table. That then brings the slab to horizontal by itself, without anyone having to touch it. Fast and safe.

Customer in practice

High-end stonework that simply has to keep running.

Prolonged downtime is simply unacceptable for us.

Junge steindesign, based in Neukamperfehn in East Frisia, makes high-end bathrooms and stonework: ship's bathrooms, hotel basins, staircases and gravestones. They work with natural stone and quartz composite among other materials, and cut on an ACM-2040. The work is demanding: extremely hard quartz composite has to fit seamlessly, patterns run around the corner and a basin has to look solid. Service was the deciding factor in choosing Resato. We are about an hour's drive away and, in the event of a breakdown, we commit to a technician the same day. Their previous supplier sometimes took up to two weeks, and a stone processor cannot afford that downtime. If something does go wrong, our service commitment puts us on site within 72 hours. In urgent situations we often manage within 24 hours.
