Why Merford chose our waterjet again after 17 years

Merford develops and builds acoustic solutions in Gorinchem. When the company wanted to grow, it chose the same supplier it had been cutting with since 2009. This story shows why.

The customer story

The recess the band saw could not make in one go

With a waterjet you can cut that recess directly, without an extra cut.

Merford makes sound quieter. The company develops and produces acoustic solutions: melamine foam, rubber sound-absorbing panels and the plasterboard finish for doors. That calls for clean, accurate cutting on soft and varied material, because a rough edge or a wrong recess disturbs the sound damping.

With traditional band saws Merford ran into a limit: internal recesses could not be made without an extra cut and unnecessary saw marks. A waterjet cuts that recess directly, in one go, without heat input. The cut stays clean, nothing needs reworking and no material is lost.

Since 2009 Merford has been cutting on an ACM waterjet, which still runs like new. When the company wanted to grow, a second one arrived in March 2026: the ACM-2040. An obvious choice.

Why Resato again

Why Resato a second time

A waterjet cuts cold. No heat enters the material, so soft and varied material keeps its shape and the cut edge stays clean. For acoustic foam and rubber that is exactly what you need. The machine also works almost entirely with water, which fits Merford's sustainability goals.

There is nothing accidental about the long life. We design and build our cutting tables ourselves, in the Netherlands, and we do the service ourselves too. As the manufacturer we know every machine to its core, and you still notice that years later. That is why Merford stayed with us when it wanted to grow.

  • A cold cut: no heat input, a clean edge on soft and varied material
  • Sustainable: the waterjet works almost entirely with water
  • Long-lived value: designed, built and maintained in the Netherlands, by us as the manufacturer
